Paper-Pregnant!

I have been “Paper-Pregnant” for the past 9 months!!  How fitting that it has taken that long to physically get to where we are today!

Wow, this has been a very emotional day for me.  For the past 9 months I have been collecting documents of all types, from birth certificates to our marriage license.  We’ve had multiple background checks because we have lived in several different states.  We have written essays about ourselves, our children, and inter-racial differences.  We have been interviewed multiple times, had doctor’s exams where we’ve had blood drawn (several times for me, ugh..), and figured out our financial statement.  I’ve asked Karen Bowman to notarize more things than I can count and probably gave her carpel-tunnel in the process!!  I’ve been to the Indiana Secretary of State’s office twice now and asked them to seal said documents.

Then after all of that, I’ve taken these bars of gold (a.k.a. dossier documents) that have been physically labored over for months and placed them in someone else’s hands!  That is truly the most nerve-racking!!

Jeremy and I officially sent off our very last document to our courier in Chicago today.  She will get it tomorrow morning and deliver it to the Chinese Consulate.  Then she will pick it up on Monday and send it directly to my agency, Lifeline.  They will receive it Tuesday morning and according to my case worker Logan (a wonderful, fantastic lady) it will be off to China on the DHL truck/plane!!  The SAME  DAY!!

Are we all understanding this??……my Dossier will be on it’s way to China on Tuesday, this Tuesday!!  HALLELUJAH AND HAPPY DAY!!

I will be starting a new countdown as soon as we get Dossier to China (DTC)!

Merry Christmas!!

Surprises!! I love them!! :)

I love surprises, I do!  I also like being able to surprise other people!  I was able to do that last Christmas to Jeremy.  Every year it’s the same thing, he ALWAYS figures out what I get him!  It’s maddening!!  So last year I decided that would not happen!!  I knew what the man wanted, an iPad.  If you know Jeremy, you know he does not ask for much, if anything.  So when he makes a comment about liking or wanting something, you pay attention.  I started saving my mileage money and was able to purchase it.  Then, I hid it.  I’m not going to tell you where, I may use that hiding space again!!  🙂

On Christmas morning, I retrieved my package and placed it as far under the tree as possible.  When he opened it, he was shocked!!  He had no clue!!  SUCCESS!!  I was the queen of the day!!

Don't you love the elf hat?? He was much happier than he appears, I promise!!

In 2006, we got our children the ultimate Christmas gift, our Miniature Schnauzer, Mistletoe!  It was the best Christmas gift they’ve ever recieved and it truly was a joy seeing their faces and their excitement!!  That is a Christmas that I will NEVER forget!!

I love when the Lord surprises me!  He has a couple of times over the past few days!!  I cannot share what exactly He’s up to, but I’m thinking it’s gonna blow my socks off!!

Day 76……………………………………

Good news is heading my way (hopefully)…….

I’m hoping to feel this happy when I check my mail in a few days!!  I just called U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or better known as USCIS and spoke with my officer!!  Yes, we’ve been assigned a case officer!!  That is good news!  Officer Jones told me our I800a was sitting on her desk!  Better news!!  She said that she should be able to approve it today!!  The best news!!!  If it gets approved today maybe it will be in the mail and we can get it this week!!  That means we could be DTC (Dossier to China) before Christmas!  Our agency has our Dossier in hand, they are just waiting for this approval.

This is the item we’ve been waiting 75 days for!!  Ugh..that sounds like a lifetime!!  I realize it isn’t, but just cut me some slack!  🙂

Day 75……………………(Hopefully this will be one of the last days to update this timeline!)

BLACK FRIDAY!!! i <3 this day!!

Happy Shopping day!!!  I hope you get all the deals you’ve set out to get!!  Let’s remember to keep it civil!  😉

Day 72…………………………………………….

Happy Thanksgiving!!

From our house to yours, we wish you a lovely Thanksgiving season!!

Blessings!!

Day 71………………………………

Lovely Evening…..

It was a lovely evening last night honoring the widow’s of our church and community!!  We had a great turnout!  Penny Houston did a fabulous job and I believe our widow’s felt very loved and appreciated!  Very thankful this morning!!

Now, if only my I800a would show up in my mailbox, that would just make this day even better!!!  😉

Day 70…………………………..(Ugh!!!)

I am Grateful…….

We are having a Widow’s Dinner at church tonight to honor our widow’s and their families.  This is such a special time of the year because it reminds us to be thankful.  🙂  This is not something we should have to be reminded of, but, of course we do.  I’m so grateful for my family.  My husband, well most days he’s pretty fantastic!  Like this morning, I was at the store at 6:30 a.m. buying enough potatoes to feed 50 people.  I knew I needed to do this several weeks ago, but I’m a last minute kind of gal!  Rushed home and my precious hubby helped me peel 30 lbs of potatoes!  Then helped cube and boil them!  As I left for work at 10, he was finishing up the mashing!!  What a guy!!  I think I’ll keep him around.

As I’m writing this, I am reminded that I still have my spouse.  We’ve been married for 16+ years and we are still in love and for the most part, pretty happy with each other!!  😉

As I stated earlier, we will be honoring our widows later tonight.  They did not have the same luxury as I did this morning as I sat beside my husband and peeled pounds and pounds of potatoes.  It is such a very small act of what we did this morning, but it’s also huge.  I don’t want to take for granted what I have.  I lost my mom 10 years ago and I still feel that loss on a daily basis.  I would love to call my mom.  I would love to sit beside her.  I would love to hold her hand.

Lord, help us to remember daily the blessings You’ve given and to be Grateful…..

Day 69………..

Poor and Needy……

Tomorrow’s service at Kirklin Assembly, Jeremy is highlighting the poor and needy.  Our theme this month has been Give Thanks, Give Back.  November 6th was Orphan Sunday, November 13th was Widow Sunday, and tomorrow is Poor and Needy Sunday.   Deuteronomy 10:18 has been our theme verse for this campaign.

“He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.”   Deuteronomy 10:18.

Day 66…………………….

2011 Youth Convention!!! Yay!! :)

So excited for my kids this weekend!!  This is the first year they both get to go to Youth Convention!!  I pray that God ministers to them and they are able to hear His voice!  When Jeremy and I were Youth Pastor’s in Oklahoma, this was the highlight of the year!  I remember lots of laughing, little sleep, and time spent around the altars with God working in the hearts and lives of our teenagers.

Now I pray this for my own children!!  God be so very real to them this weekend.  As they seek You, may You be found!  I pray that the speaker would have Your words and the boldness to say them.  I pray for the students of Kirklin Assembly of God that they would sense and be drawn closer to You!  Amen!!

Day 65……………….

Matching Grant Button!!

How awesome is this……Lifesong for Orphans and We Care for Orphans has let me include a donation button on the right side of my blog to gather donations!!  We are working on our letters to send out to family, friends, churches, etc!!

I just feel incredibly blessed today!!  Thank you Lord for organizations that help families bring home their children!!

Day 64…………………..
